Pierre Yves SAUNIER
I am interested in turban history and in the history of international organizations in the modern period, and especially in the entanglements of the foreign and the domestic that such protagonists reveal, enact, shape or deal with. At Université Laval, in Québec City, I am teaching European history with a comparative and transnational twist, roaming from the 18th to the 20th century. Being on a sabbatical at the time of writing this biographical note (Winter 2021), two projects keep me busy besides shovelling snow. Together with the members of the “Heralds of Globalization” team based in Geneva and Lausanne, we are polishing a data base of the thousands of individuals from dozens of countries who received a fellowship/scholarship from the Rockefeller Foundation and other Rockefeller boards between 1915 and 1970. And, I am inching my way through a book manuscript about the relationships between Paris and the world from the mid-18th century to the present time.
