Sonja MATTER

Sonja Matter is a lecturer at the Department of History and the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies at the University of Bern. She is currently part of the research project “Private and public actors in out-of-home childcare processes in Switzerland (1950-2020)”. Her main research interests are the history of the welfare state, history of poverty, history of childhood and women’s and gender history. She is the author of Der Armut auf den Leib rücken. Die Professionalisierung der Sozialen Arbeit in der Schweiz (1900-1960) and several articles on the history of social security in modern Europe.
